Didi Hirsch, Metrolink and Metro Renew Campaign to Prevent Holiday Suicide

Fast trains, holiday depression and thoughts of suicide can be a deadly combination, but Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services and local commuter rail officials renewed a campaign to prevent suicide as the holiday season nears.

The anti-suicide campaign includes 90 signs posted at stations throughout the Metrolink system with phone numbers for the Didi Hirsch Crisis Line at 877-727-4747 and the message: "Reach Out. There is help."  Since the campaign was launched two years ago, suicide by train has decreased significantly throughout the region.

Record Year for Fundraising and Memories

Didi Hirsch’s 16th annual Alive & Running Walk/Run for Suicide Prevention had a record year—raising more than $274,000 and providing participants with poignant but life-affirming opportunities to remember and celebrate loved ones lost to suicide.
