A Fulbright scholar with a B.A. and M.A. in Economics and an MFA in Art from the University of Wisconsin, Joel’s experience founding a not-for-profit arts organization led him to the world of fundraising.
Over the last 30 years, Joel has worked for many social service organizations, including USC’s Norris Cancer Center, Children’s Institute International and the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center, where he served as director of development and planned giving counsel for over ten years. His experience with planned giving and capital/endowment campaigns is especially important as Didi Hirsch grows to meet the increasing needs of the communities we serve. Dedicated to giving back to the community, Joel’s volunteer work has included tenure on the board of directors of the LA Shanti Foundation, LA Shakespeare Festival and Pasadena Art Workshops, as well as the advisory council of Los Angeles Outward Bound.
It’s important to Joel to work for an agency whose mission and services inspire him and he is passionate about helping Didi Hirsch continue to provide mental health services as great as the need.
