TOPIC: Recovery-Oriented Treatment: A model for Clinical Therapists
SPEAKER: Diane Gehart, Ph.D., LMFT
In this workshop, participants will learn about a recovery-oriented treatment model based on existing psychotherapy theory and techniques. The model includes a detailed description of: a) the therapeutic partnership, b) recovery-oriented assessment procedures, c) recovery-based treatment planning, d) interventions that support recovery, e) case management, f) recovery maintenance, and g) treatment context and formats. Case presentations will be used to illustrate the concepts.
Dr. Gehart is a licensed marriage and family therapist with a doctoral degree in marriage and family therapy. She published articles in peer-reviewed journals and presented on a multitude of therapeutic topics at the local and state level. With the advent of changes to the Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) curriculum, she was commissioned by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences to create a recovery based curriculum and bibliography. Dr. Gehart is currently a professor at California State University, Northridge and in private practice. She has lectured throughout California on recovery-oriented treatment.
